The Eight Money Type – Which One Drives Your Behavior With Money?

The Eight Money Types Explain

The Eight Money Types was developed by Deborah Price (founder of the Money Coaching Institute & author of Money Magic), money types gives us a better understanding of our financial behaviours, our unique money patterns, and the unconscious motivations behind our money decisions.

The Innocent  – Tends to takes the ostrich approach to money; doesn’t want to see what’s going on. Would rather not be responsible for financial decisions or money management. Seeks safety and security and longs to be rescued.

The Victim – May blame their financial situation on external factors or others. May have been abused, betrayed or have suffered some great loss. Tends to live in the past and often has a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The Warrior – Generally is very focused and goal-oriented. Successful in business and money, decisive and in control. Discerning, powerful, driven, and financially self-actualized.

The Martyr – Often busy taking care of others’, but often neglect their own needs. Tend to be self-sacrificing and long-suffering. May be financially generous but can have strings attached. Can have boundary issues and be overly-responsible. Tendency to be a giver, and often uncomfortable receiving.

The Fool – Tends to take financial shortcuts. Relatively fearless, often impulsive and can get caught up in the enthusiasm of the moment. May lack discipline, be restless or overly generous. Needs to do research before acting, develop patience and to slow down their financial decision-making process.

The Creator/Artist – Often on a creative, spiritual or artistic path. Finds money and the material world difficult to navigate. Not motivated by money alone. Can be financially detached or have a conflicted love/hate relationship with money. Needs to make peace with money.

The Tyrant – May use money to manipulate and control people, events and circumstances. Can be secretive and fearful. Needs and likes to be the one in control, financially. May have underlying insecurities that drive them to want bigger, better, more in order to create the illusion of power and control.

The Magician – The ideal money type. Knows how to transform and manifest their financial reality. Willing to claim their own power. Armed with the knowledge of the past, they have made peace with their personal history and have transformed their lives. They feel secure and know all their needs will always be met.

It’s important to understand that the money archetypes are not who we are, they are simply behaviours and patterns that we have learned during our childhood.  They show up to teach us what we need to know and to overcome to reach our full potential.
